Wates to build £45m Stockport cinema complex

17 Jun 15 Stockport Council has selected Wates ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ to build a £45m cinema development.

Wates ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ has been awarded a two-stage design and build contract for the development of Redrock Stockport, following a competitive tender process through the North West ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Hub.

Built on the site of the current Bridgefield Street car park in the town, Redrock Stockport will comprise a 10 screen cinema, a multi-storey car park, restaurants, café bars and retail units totalling more than 3,800m2.

The £45m development has been designed by architect BDP; project manager is Gardiner & Theobald. Preparatory work has already started in the area and main construction is expected to start in the autumn 2015. Completion is expected in spring 2017.

Wates ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ regional director Tony Shenton said the contractor was now looking for local subcontractors to work on the project.
