Electrical Design Engineer
Leicester | Hybrid Working
Permanent | Full Time
An established engineering consultancy is looking to recruit an Electrical Design Engineer to join its Leicester office. This opportunity would suit an engineer in the early stages of their building services career who is keen to develop their technical expertise while working on a broad range of projects across the built environment.
The business delivers multidisciplinary engineering solutions to clients across sectors including healthcare, commercial, education, residential, industrial and public sector developments, with a strong focus on sustainable and low-energy design.
The Role
Working alongside experienced engineers and wider design teams, you will contribute to the delivery of electrical building services projects from initial concept through to completion.
Responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the design and coordination of electrical building services systems.
- Producing technical drawings, reports and specifications.
- Carrying out electrical calculations using industry-standard software.
- Supporting project delivery to agreed programmes and budgets.
- Coordinating with mechanical engineers and other design disciplines.
- Attending design team and client meetings as required.
- Assisting with site visits, inspections and installation reviews.
- Supporting the integration of sustainable and low-carbon technologies into projects.
- Developing an understanding of project delivery across multiple sectors.
- Maintaining high technical standards and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Keeping up to date with changes in regulations, design guidance and emerging technologies.
About You
Applicants are likely to have:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- HNC or HND qualifications with relevant industry experience will also be considered.
- At least 12 months of experience within a building services design environment.
- Familiarity with software such as Revit, Amtech, DIALux or Relux.
- An understanding of UK building regulations and relevant industry standards.
- Knowledge of sustainable building design principles.
- Exposure to renewable technologies and energy-efficient systems.
- Awareness of BREEAM requirements.
- Membership of, or interest in joining, a professional body such as CIBSE or IET.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to continue developing technically.
